It must be the weekend of agent whinging. First it was Mino Raiola slamming Jurgen Klopp over his treatment of Mario Balotelli. Now is it the turn of the agent for Yaya Tour to turn up the hyperbole by saying that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has “humiliated” Toure by leaving him out of City’s Champions League squad.
The omission is no surprise since the 33-year-old Ivory Coast playmaker, who is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad, has yet to play for City in a Premier League squad this season.
Toure’s agent, Dimitri Seluk, has claimed the pressure is now on Guardiola to win the competition, but he insists his client will see the season out at the Etihad Stadium.
‘It is Pep’s decision and we must respect that” Seluk told the Mirror.
‘If he wins the Champions League for City this season then I will travel to England and I will say on television that Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world.
‘But if City don’t win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya.
‘But what I can tell you is that Yaya will spend the season at City. He will not be leaving in January. He hopes that he will get the chance to prove himself.’
Couple of things that Seluk forgot to mention. One is that Guardiola HAS included Toure in City’s Premier League squad. And second, the reason he will see at the season at City is the £220,000 a week wages that he is on. That gets paid regardless of whether he plays or not.
