If the number of replica shirts sold worldwide is an indicator of the fan support for that club, then the latest data shows what Manchester United are the biggest club in the world.
The Premier League giants sold a staggering 2,850,000 in 2016, helped by the arrivals of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Real Madrid are second in the list, having sold 2,290,000 shirts in 2016 while Barcelona are third with 1,980,000.
Chelsea are United’s closest Premier League rivals selling 1,650,000 shirts, while Arsenal came in sixth at 1,225,000..
The only other Premie League to break into the top 10 were Liverpool, who are in eight place in the global chart selling 705,000. Fenway Sports Group will not be amused to learn that fans bought 4 Manchester United shirts for every Liverpool shirt sold.
Interestingly, there was no place in the top 10 for Manchester City, while fallen Italian giants AC Milan came in 10th.
