Wenger Doesn’t Want Anymore Breaks

Arsenal manager Arsene Wengerrealizes that his squad is swimming upstream after early season losses to Hull and Fulham.

That said, he still believes in his players and their ability to mount a Premiership title challenge.  He noted prior to this weekend’s match with Everton,

“If you ask me how many games you think we can lose, I would say zero because I always start a season thinking you cannot lose a game, but we have lost two already and we are in a position where we have given ourselves a handicap.”

He continued,

“However, I still think it is manageable to get back to the top and I want to lead this team knowing that there is not a lot of margin of error left – but I still think we can do that.”

Adding to the bad breaks against Hull and Fulham, Arsenal players sustained several injuries during the international break. Roughly half the squad has seen the treatment room since returning. Most notably, the trio of William Gallas, Bacary Sagna, and Nicklas Bendtner are out this weekend. Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie are expected to play but could be limited. Due to the defensive injuries, ex-Manchester United player Mikael Silvestre could finally make his debut with the Gunners.
