Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes says that the revolution taking place in Monaco would be a tempting destination for him when he leaves Barcelona on a Bosman at the end of the season.
Valdes almost joined Monaco this past summer, but the Lique 1 side and Barcelona could not agree on a transfer fee. But it looks like the move could be back on next summer as Valdes told Telefoot:
“Monaco or elsewhere in Ligue 1 is a good option.
“I’m attracted to the French league in general and it’s one of the possibilities. My future is in the hands of my representative.”
Valdes added of his future:
“It’s been more than 20 years and I’ve been lucky to win a lot of titles with Barça, but my adventure is coming to an end. It’s time to find new goals and a new destination.”
Monaco have been on the search for a world-class goalkeeper for a while now and are reportedly willing to make Valdes the highest paid goalkeeper in the world with a salary of €10m a year plus a sizeable signing bonus.
“I have a contract until the end of the season with Barcelona” said Valdes.
“I’ve spent more than 20 years with this club, and I’ve been lucky enough to win everything there was to win, but the adventure will end at the end of the season,” he explained. “Still, I want to keep winning and set myself new challenges and objectives.”
