The US men’s national team will face Trinidad & Tobago in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals in November. The winner will qualify directly for the 2024 Copa America to be held in the United States.
Mexico will take on Honduras, Canada will play Jamaica, and Costa Rica will meet Panama in the other Nations League quarterfinal ties. The four winners will earn spots in the 2024 Copa America alongside the 10 South American teams.
Gio Reyna and the young USMNT stars will be keen to gain valuable experience in the Copa America ahead of co-hosting the 2026 World Cup. But first they must get past Trinidad & Tobago, who famously eliminated the US from 2018 World Cup qualifying.
“It won’t be easy against Trinidad given our history, but our young squad is ready for the challenge,” said USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter.
U.S. Soccer had previously announced that Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas will host the first leg on Nov. 16 while the second leg is scheduled for Nov. 20 with a venue and kickoff time to be determined.
The Nations League semifinals and finals will take place in March 2024. The four quarterfinal losers will have a playoff to vie for the final two Copa America spots for Concacaf.
Defending Nations League champions USA and fellow top-ranked sides Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica received byes to the quarterfinals based on the latest Concacaf rankings.
The tournament shapes up as a crucial opportunity for the USMNT to test itself against South American opposition. Gaining Copa America experience could be invaluable preparation on the road to co-hosting World Cup 2026.

After home-and-away play, the aggregate score winner in each pairing will advance to both the 23/24 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the CONMEBOL Copa America USA 2024. The four losing Quarterfinalists will still have an opportunity to qualify for next summer’s Copa America via a single-match direct elimination Play-In, where they will play for the two remaining slots for Concacaf nations. This Play-In will also take place in March 2024.
23/24 Concacaf Nations League Finals
The Concacaf Nations League Finals’ third edition is scheduled to take place in March 2024. The final four, between League A’s Quarterfinal winners, includes semifinals, to be played on Thursday, March 21, 2024, followed by a Third Place Match and Final on Sunday, March 24.
