Gino Pozzo, son of Udinese owner Giampaolo, dismissed reports that Napoli was seriouly involved in the Alexis Sanchez deal, saying that Barcelona remain the main candidates to secure the player’s signature.
“The Sanchez situation is a delicate one,” said Gino Pozzo. “The deal involves other players, but he’ll cost around €50 million (£45 million) and that is why Napoli and Inter are not very close to his signature. We’ll now just wait for Barcelona to make their next move.”
Pozzo told the Il Corriere delle Sport:
“We’ll have to wait until next week to see whether the talks with Barcelona lead to anything. We have a number of meetings scheduled next week. The negotiations are rather complex because there are a lot of variables involved. Either way, we’re not in a hurry, because Alexis is still active at the Copa America.”
It looks like that unless Udinese can get an agreement with Barca that Sanchez will stay at Udinese next season.
