According to AS (h/t Sport), Cristiano Ronaldo is upset with the Real Madrid medical department after suffering a relapse of the injury that he picked up against Villarreal recently. The injury caused the striker to miss Los Blancos’ Champions League semi-final first leg at Manchester City on Tuesday.
Ronaldo reinjured himself in a training session at the Etihad Stadium the night before the game and the setback was described as the “straw which broke the camel’s back” for Ronaldo, per Sport, breaking the player’s trust in the Galacticos’ doctors.
Ronaldo has decided to ditch Madrid’s medics, according to Diario AS, and instead has put his injury in the hands of the the physiotherapist Joaquin Juan in a bid to be fit for the Champions League semi-final second leg against City next Wednesday. As part of his treatment plan, Ronaldo is reported to be undergoing stem cell treatment in a bid to get him fit in time for the semi-final next week.
That timeline will mean that CR7 is expected to miss the league match against Real Sociedad on Saturday, a game that the Whites need to win if they are to maintain their unlikely title hopes.
Ronaldo is just the latest player to be unhappy with the Real Madrid medical staff. Because of a preseason that saw them play games on three continents, Madrid players have suffered a significant number of muscualr injuries this season, something the players have blamed on the medical staff.
