Juventus ace Sebastian Giovinco feels it would have been a good idea to suspend all Serie A matches this weekend following the earthquake which struck Abruzzo on Monday.
The latest reports from Sky News Italia claim as many as 280 people have died from the disaster. Giovinco, who is likely to start against Genoa on Saturday, has paid his respects to the victims, and insists the Bianconeri will support the relief efforts.
“I don’t think the games should go-ahead. It’s the first time something like this has happened since playing and so I don’t know if it would be the right thing to do,” Giovinco told Juventus Channel. “Since the incident happened, we have not spoke about anything else amongst ourselves. I can assure everyone that Juventus are staying close to the people who have been hit by the disaster. We are trying to find a way of helping and contributing to those who have suffered in Abruzzo.”
