Scott Parker could be out until Christmas

Tottenham have had a good start to the season despite being without England midfielder Scott Parker all season due to a persistent Achilles injury.

Parker hurt his Achilles at the end of last season, and took painkilling injections to play for England during this summer’s Euros.

As a result, Parker was forced to undergo surgery to fix his Achilles during the summer and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas does not expect Parker to be back before Christmas.

He had surgery in August but AVB said: “He still feels pain and is disturbed in his recovery.

“It will take two or three weeks, we could be looking at Christmas. Hopefully less.”

“It prevents him from being on the pitch but he has been evolving inside, in the gym, with the medical department.

“It is still within the limits of what we expected. He is making good progress and there has been less pain.”

Parker was a huge part of Tottenham’s success last season, but I wonder if at 32, whether he can get back to the form that allowed him to be named England’s Player of the Year in February?
