Jose Mourinho has been consistent with his comments that Bastian Schweinsteiger will not play for Manchester United this season. So it is quite a surprise then to get United’s Premier League squad and see the former Germany captain.
Schweinsteiger has not played in any matches for United this season and Mourinho warned him there is no room in his preferred 23-man squad.
‘We have a decision completely made about Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick” said Mourinho.
‘We have five players for two positions. It’s very difficult that an opportunity will arrive.’
Yet despite that Schweinsteiger made the list as did Sam Johnstone and Memphis Depay as United struggled to fill in the squad. They used only 24 out of the maximum 25 places and that is with Schweinsteiger, Johnstone and Depay.
