Reports in Turkey claim that Galatasaray have reached an agreement to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy and now just need to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid. The Dutch striker has been injured for much of this season and rumours have surfaced that he will be sold in the summer when the new president arrives.
Milliyet reports that Haldun Ustunel, a director of Galatasaray, travelled to Holland and came to a verbal agreement with the player himself for a move. Now the Turkish club will have to speak to Madrid and see whether or not they can finalise the deal this summer.
A lot could depend on the plans of the new president this summer, with the favourite for the position, Florentino Perez rumoured to be willing to sell the Dutch striker. Currently he has a deal with Madrid until 2010 but with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Gonzalo Higuain and Raul already in the side, he could find himself fighting for a place when he returns.
