It is usually the matchups between the big four in the Premier League that we look for first, but Real’s spending this summer has been unprecedented and these two La Liga giants might well be the best two teams in Europe at the moment.
The center of European soccer has swung from the Premier League to La Liga and this probably the most anticipated La Liga season in recent memory.
The first round of the 2009/10 La Liga season will take place on the weekend of Aug. 29/30, although Barcelona will not play Sporting Gijon until Monday, Aug. 31 due to their European Super Cup clash against Shakhtar Donetsk three days earlier. Real Madrid will take on Deportivo Coruna at the Bernabeu in their opening match.
