AS Roma have signed Bosnia and Herzegovina playmaker Miralem Pjanic from Lyon for a reported €10 million(£8.8m) deal, with Fernando Gago and Simon Kjaer also joining Luis Enrique’s side.
Pjanic has already made a big name for himself in Ligue 1 and has won 26 caps for his national team having made his debut at just 18. He had been linked with a move to Lazio and Spurs, but big-spending Roma who have won the race for his signature.
He has been joined at the club by Real Madrid midfielder Gago, as new coach Luis Enrique continues a major overhaul of the squad with the capture of the Argentinan international midfielder on a one-year loan deal. Gago, who had been linked with Manchester City, joined Madrid from Boca Juniors in January 2007 but has failed to make an impression under Jose Mourinho.
Enrique has been extremely busy this offseason as he has previously added Bojan Krkic from Barcelona, Dutch goalkeeper Markus Stekelenburg from Ajax, striker Pablo Osvaldo from Espanyol and earlier today, Simon Kjaer on loan from Wolfsburg.
With all these signings, Enrique will be under a lot of pressure to deliver at least a top three position for Roma this season.
