Real Sociedad have appointed Philippe Montanier to be their new coach after agreeing a €500,000 compensation package with French club Valenciennes. Montanier signed a two year contract with Real.
Montanier succeeds Martin Lasarte, who parted company with the San Sebastian club last week despite leading them back to La Liga before keeping them up on the final day of the 2010-11 campaign.
Montanier enjoyed a spell at Boulogne before spending the past two seasons with Valenciennes, which finished 12th in Ligue 1 this past season.
