Chelsea, Man Utd., Real Madrid

Real Madrid Want De Gea Or Courtois

As our attention turns this this summer’s transfer window, Real Madrid are being strongly linked with two former Atletico Madrid goalkeepers: Manchester United’s David de Gea and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.

De Gea should be a Real Madrid player, but president Florentino Perez blew the chance to sign him in 2015, a decision that he is still trying to fix two summers later.

Real Madrid are in the market for a goalkeeping galactico this summer because of the play of their current No.1 Keylor Navas and his backup Kiko Casilla.

Navas was brilliant last season after Perez dropped the ball on the de Gea deal and he was one of the reasons why Real Madrid won the Champions League.

But he has not fully recovered froman operation on an achilles tendon last summer and has conceded 22 goals in 20 games this season. Casilla has not been much better, letting in 18 in 16.

Despite what happened in 2015, Perez still wants se Gea and the United goalkeeper still seems interested in moving back to Spain. When asked by AS this week about his future the United No. 1 responded:

Personally, how do you see your future at United?

The future nobody knows. The future is the future. I’m very happy here, it’s a great club. In England, football is enjoyed a lot.

Real Madrid could be back for you in the summer. How do you see it?

I’m not going to talk about that. I‘m not going to talk about that subject now. I just have to keep focused on my club.

If getting de Gea away from United proves to be too difficult, Perez will reportedly offer Chelsea £43 million (€50m) for a player they signed from Genk for £5m.

Why would Chelsea want to sell Courtois? He reportedly has told Chelsea that he has no intention of signing an extension to his current deal that runs out in 2019. So this summer will give the club a last opportunity to get a sizeable fee for him.

Courtois’ girlfriend is Spanish and the couple want to bring up their daughter Adriana, who will be two years old in May, in Spain.

If you were Real Madrid, who would you rather have? David de Gea or Thibaut Courtois?
