Chelsea have reportedly put a £200m price tag on wantaway superstar Eden Hazard and Real Madrid are sending the Blues talisman through the media that they need his help in getting this deal through.
According to the Spanish publication AS, new Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui feels that Isco can play the same role as Hazard and that the European Champions don’t actually need the Chelsea star.
Lopetegui is a big fan of Isco, a player in whom Lopetegui placed his absolute trust during his stint as Spain boss, even in the midfielder’s toughest moments at the Bernabéu.
“In the national team I’ve got the coach’s confidence, which maybe I haven’t managed to earn at Madrid,” Isco admitted after his hat-trick in La Roja’s 6-1 win over Argentina in March.
Marco Asensio’s development is also an important factor in Real’s stance. Last season, James Rodríguez was allowed to depart so that Asensio could get more game time, and Hazard’s arrival would have a negative knock-on effect on the 22-year-old’s first-team role – something that Los Merengues’ decision-makers don’t want to happen.
All of which means that Real Madrid are considering not making a superstar signing this summer. And it is clear that the ball in now in Hazard’s court.
It is down to him to force his way out of Chelsea in the next ten days, which will not be easy.
But if Hazard’s dream really is to move to the Bernabéu this is the summer to do it, because next summer Real will make a huge effort to sign a ‘Galáctico’ like Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
And I don’t see how Hazard and Neymar both fit into the Real Madrid team.
Do you think that Eden Hazard will be a Chelsea or Real Madrid player when the transfer window closes?
