Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez confirmed today that a deal has been reached with Francisco Alarcón “Isco” and that the player will be presented by the club next week, once he has passed his medical.
“The club and the player have reached an agreement”, said Pérez, in statements to Spanish National Radio.
The transfer, which is likely to have cost Real Madrid around €27 million, is a coup for Real as Isco was widely expected to follow his former manager Manuel Pellegrini to Manchester City.
But it seems that Zinedine Zidane called the Spanish starlet during the European under 21 Championships in Israel and was able to convince him that he should move to Real instead.
It was a terrific sales job by Zidane, as I would expect that Isco would have gotten more playing time at Man City next year.
The arrival of the most talented young Spanish player is already arrival is causing a stir amongst Real fans: basketball player Rudy Fernández has already tweeted that he wants his shirt.
“@marca: El fichaje de Isco, cerrado http://t.co/mQPMp525rY” Vamos!! Me compro la camiseta ya!!

With the signing of the Malaga midfielder Real Madrid is quietly putting together a very talented group of 21-23 year-olds that will make up the core of the side for years to come.
Joining Isco is the Real Madrid squad next year will be Nacho, Carvajal, Morata, Varane, Casemiro and Jesé, seven players who were all born between 1990 and 1993.
