Thiago Motta says that the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room is buzzing with excitement ahead of Neymar’s possible £196 million move to the French club.
The striker is reported to have told Barcelona team-mates he is leaving for PSG and Motta said the Brazilian would be welcomed with open arms.
‘Of course we talk,’ said Motta. He’s a great player. Which team would not want Neymar? Everyone would like to have him on his team.’
PSGH is owned by Qatar Sports Investments (QSi) and the wealthy Parisian club are smash transfer records with the deal. On top of the world record fee of €222 million, PSG have offered Neymar a stunning five-year contract worth £596,000 a week after tax.
Speaking in the wake of PSG’s 3-2 defeat by Juventus in a pre-season friendly, Motta added that a player of Neymar’s talent should be snapped up when the opportunity presents itself.
‘Barca do not want to lose him… he can make a difference. If he comes, we will wait for him with open arms,’ he added.
‘I hope that it will end well for the PSG, because playing with a player of this level is rare and is difficult to find. But why not?’
‘To find a player of this level is very difficult. He can play anywhere and of course he can play for PSG, I do not need to say it. He’s a player of another level,’ Motta concluded.
PSG’s Qatar owners have been looking for a marquee signing since they bought the club in 2011. After being rebuffed this summer by Cristiano Ronaldo it seems that the owners have finally landed the superstar that they have craved.
