Real Madrid are reportedly waiting for a decision from Kylian Mbappe or Neymar ahead of the planned summer overhaul at the Bernabeu as PSG manager Thomas Tuchel admitted that both players could leave in the summer transfer window.
The La Liga giants are looking to recruit a host of stars following a disappointing campaign last season.
Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba are Zinedine Zidane’s top targets but Paris Saint-Germain forwards Mbappe and Neymar have been linked with moves to the Spanish capital.
And now Madrid are waiting for an indication from either player to get the ball rolling, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
The headline on the outlet’s front page on Thursday morning read:
‘Mbappe or Neymar, Florentino’s (Perez) challenge.’
It continued: ‘Wait for a guide of one or the other to enter to the top.’
Mbappe hinted that he could move on while accepting the Ligue 1 Player of the Year Award last Sunday.
‘Of course there were some disappointments [this season] but it’s part of football, we managed to win this league,’ he said.
‘I would like to thank the players, the coach, the club again. It’s important for me because I come to a first or a second turning point in my career.
‘I discovered a lot of things here. I feel it’s time to have more responsibility. I hope it may be Paris Saint-Germain, it will be with great pleasure, or it may be elsewhere for a new project, but I would like to say thank you.’
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel added fuel to this story when he admitted that both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar could leave in the summer transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Tuchel said:
‘As a coach, I do want them to continue, but this is football, we are not naive.
‘Many clubs want to transfer many players and the market is crazy, but if you ask me, the coach, yes, I want them here next season. But if they are not, we will find solutions.’
Tuchel addressed Mbappe’s quotes at the weekend where he said it was time to receive more repsonsibility.
‘Mbappe has goals, he is very intelligent and maybe he thought it was time to say it, but he is invited, like all PSG players, to assume responsibilities.
‘It is not necessary to make a speech to say that. He’s a special guy, he wants to score, score and score, win all the possible titles. We have to accept it, I’m not angry.’
