Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the blockbuster deal between PSG and Inter Milan for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva for €65 million has finally been completed.
The two clubs agreed on the deal last week and Silva agreed to personal terms with PSG last week also, but it took Ibrahimovic and his agent until today to agree on a deal that made Ibrahimovic the second highest paid footballer in the world.
The 30-year-old Sweden international has agreed a reported €13 million-per-annum, three-year deal and will undergo a medical in Paris on Wednesday morning.
“We have reached an agreement, the deal is done,” Leonardo told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a PSG player, he can write our history.”
“This is a big year for PSG. That a player of his calibre has come to Paris, it’s enormous. This is a player who could change everything. ”
PSG have scheduled an official press conference at the Parc des Princes for Wednesday afternoon, when the former Barcelona striker is expected to be unveiled.
“Zlatan is very excited,” Raiola told Le Parisien after finalising talks with PSG. ” This is not a player that you can force to do what he doesn’t want to do. He’s very excited at the idea of taking on this challenge. PSG was his first choice.”
The 30-year-old Ibrahimovic, who had a contract with Milan until June 2015, was Serie A’s top scorer last season, netting 28 goals as the Rossoneri finished runners-up to Juventus.
PSG are also expected to present Pescara midfielder Marco Verratti to the press on Wednesday.
The big-spending French club – who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing second in the league last term – also purchased Argentine international Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli earlier this month.
