The draw is 17 December, but with all the group games complete, we do know the potential opponents for the Serie A clubs left in the competition. Inter, Milan and Roma all finished second in their group and will play one of the top seeds.
Inter Milan
Inter’s potential opponents are: Schalke, Man United, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Madrid, Shakhtar. Not an easy opponent in that group, although Shakhtar might arguably be the weakest team in that group because they will just be restarting their season when the knockout stage begins. The most intriguing match-up has to be Inter v Real Madrid and the return of Jose Mourinho.
AS Roma
Roma’s potential opponents are: Tottenham, Schalke, Man United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Madrid, Shakhtar. Like the two Milan sides, there are no easy opponents here for Roma.
AC Milan
Can play: Tottenham, Schalke, Man United, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Shakhtar. Not an easy opponent in that group, although Spurs with their lack of European experience would arguably be the weakest team in that group.
The first leg which will be played between 15-23 February in Italy and the return legs will be played between the 8-16 March.
