Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out of the Champions League quarter-finals and faces a battle to be fit for the end of the season.
Poona hurt himself in training ahead of Juve’s 3-0 last 16 win against Dortmund on Wednesday, but shrugged it off and was able to start in Germany.
But the midfielder aggravated it during the first half and has now been diagnosed with a Grade II lesion to the right femoral bicep.
According to statement on the Juventus website:
Paul Pogba this afternoon underwent an MRI scan after coming off midway through the first half of last night’s Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
The scan revealed a grade two myotendinous junction tear of his biceps femoris. He is expected to return to competitive action within the next 50 days.
A fifty day timetable means that Pogba will miss both legs of next month’s Champions League quarter-finals as well as the first leg of the semi-final, should Juventus progress, which takes place on May 5.
If Monaco beats Juve in the quarter-finals, and if Juve have already wrapped up another Serie A title by then, I wonder if they will shut down Pogba, and give one of the best young talents in football the whole summer to recover?
