Big blow for struggling AC Milan as Alexandre Pato will be out for up to four weeks with a left thigh muscle injury.
Pato picked up the injury in Wednesday night’s Coppa Italia win over Novara, in which he scored the extra-time winner to earn a 2-1 win.
A statement on Milan’s official website read:
“Damage to the biceps femoris muscle of the left thing has been diagnosed. It’s not serious damaged, but, unless there are complications, it will require 3-4 weeks rest.”
Three to four weeks means that Pato is unlikely to play in the 1st leg of the Last 16 clash in the Champions League with Arsenal at the San Siro on February 15.
In addition he wil miss five Serie A games against Cagliari, Lazio, Napoli and Udinese as well as Lazio in the Coppa Italia next week
Milan have a massive game against Juventus on 26th February and that might be Pato’s first game back.
Milan were short of forwards before Pato’s injury and I wonder is his injury will prompt the Rossoneri to restart those Carlos Tevez transfer talks.
