Barcelona are in a defensive crisis after defender Gerard Pique is facing a three-week spell on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury in Wednesday night’s Champions League win over Spartak Moscow.
The Spain international was replaced just 12 minutes into the match at the Nou Camp and, according to Barca‘s medical team, the injury he suffered will see him out of action for between “two to three weeks”.
Pique’s injury is a further blow for Barca following this week’s news that his central defensive partner Carles Puyol is set to be out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.
Barca, who won Wednesday night’s match against Spartak 3-2 after trailing with 19 minutes left, face Granada, Sevilla, Benfica and Real Madrid in the next month.
