ESPNsoccernet is reporting that Brazilian stat Neymar has agreed to join Real Madrid next summer from Santos for around £53m.
At 19, Neymar is one of the brightest talents in world football having shone for his club Santos and also on the international stage for Brazil. Yesterday he was included on the shortlist for the World Footballer Of The Year.
Brazil legend Pele recently said that he believes that Neymar has the potential to rival Barcelona star Lionel Messi as one of football’s most talented players.
Neymar was strongly linked with a move away from Santos in the summer, but with Santos playing in the FIFA World Club event at the end of year, the likelihood of him leaving before that competition was unlikely.
But is looks like Real Madrid have won the race to sign Neymar and that he will join Real after the 2012 Olympics in London next summer for around £53 million deal. A source told ESPNsoccernet that:
“Neymar will be a Real Madrid player in July, but he is not going there any earlier. He has not signed a contract as yet.”
Neymar is expected to sign a contract worth around worth £1 million-a-month, while image rights, commercial agreements and the transfer fee could see the deal total around £150 million over 5 years.
