Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has ruled out a move for Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli due to his “disruptive” nature, but is interested in Villareal’s Giuseppe Rossi.
When asked if he wanted to bring in the former Inter Milan player, the Napoli owner replied:
“Absolutely not. He is funny, but it is too disruptive and I prefer that he applies his talents elsewhere.”
One player he is interested in signing. however, is Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi, although the Italy international would prefer to stay in Spain.
“I understand the ambition of a young man to want to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid, it’s normal. He (Rossi) didn’t say no to me, though, but this was around four weeks ago. I will try to buy him this season, but I’m ready to leave him in Spain.”
Interesting quote from de Laurentiis as I did not realize that Manchester City were looking to sell Balotelli. And if they were, I am not sure if Napoli could afford him. As for Rossi, he is only the latest Italian club to be interested in the Villarreal star. Rossi has had a chance to move to several clubs in Serie A this summer, but he seems to be holding out for a move to Barcelona next summer as a possible replacement for David Villa.
