Former Juventus football director Luciano Moggi does not feel it wise for the club to release Alessandro Del Piero at the end of the season.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the campaign and Juventus staying silent on their end, it is looking increasingly likely that Del Piero will be leaving after 19 years at the club.
However, Moggi told Radio Calciomercato that the Bianconeri should consider the issue very carefully before allowing their talisman to depart.
“I agree that he is no longer the player he once was, but he can still be decisive, as he has shown recently. The statistics speak for themselves. It would be a mistake to let go of him,”
“I know him as a person and he is a great guy. He would still be very useful for Juventus, even if he doesn’t always play. The Juve directors have to understand that he still has plenty to offer.”
Juventus take on Roma in their Serie A fixture this Sunday.
