A look at the whoscored.com MLS Team of the Week shows that for the first time, two New England Revolution players made the Best X1 as Chris Tierney and Kelyn Rowe impressed in the Revs win over the San Jose Earthquakes at the weekend.
With his two goals I thought that Rowe had a chance for Player of the Week honors, but his performance was only the second best performance of week four as Sporting Kansas defender Ike Opara had an even better day in SKC’s 1-0 win over New York City FC.
Opara not only scored the SKC goal, but also added 2 tackles, 9 interceptions, 13 clearances and 2 blocked shots in a terrific performance. Those sorts of numbers though have been commonplace for Opara, who has been statistically the MLS’s best player in the opening month of the season.
