Chicago Fire
The Eastern Leaders have started the season strong and their offense is playing well with 6 goals in 3 games and their defense is playing even better only allowing 1 goal. Their next match is a big one early in the season being at home against Kansas City on Sunday.
Kansas City Wizards
After a great start in their first couple of games the Wizards were routed by New England at home 3-1 in their last match. Their defense was shaky in that game giving up 3 goals, as in their previous 2 games they had only given up 2 goals. On offense the Wizards have scored 6 goals. The Wizards next game is in Chicago against the Eastern Division leading Fire.
Columbus Crew
Their last match was perhaps the most exciting of the young season, as the Crew beat Chivas USA 4-3. Overall their offense was off to a slow start until Sunday’s game, as they only scored 2 goals in their first 2 games. On defense they were playing well, but had many holes in the 4-3 win over Chivas USA. The Crew’s next match is at D.C. United. This game will be a good barometer to how Columbus is really playing.
New England Revolution
The Revs got a huge win at Kansas City in their last game winning 3-1. Their offense is ok, as they have scored 6 goals and this without leading scorer Taylor Twellman. Their D has been average giving up 6 goals in 4 games, but they had a solid defensive effort in the win over Kansas City. The Revs next match is against the New York Red Bulls in the Big Apple.
New York Red Bulls
New York has started the season slow, but their defense is playing good only giving up 2 goals in 2 games. The only thing is their offense has not played well, also only scoring 2 goals in 2 games. Their offense needs to step it up, as even though they have a great defense they cannot carry the team to the playoffs this year. Their next game is a big one at home against New England.
D.C. United
D.C. United has not lived up to their pre-season hype with all of their new international players. But the season is young and they have time to gel. There is some concern about their lack of offense, which especially showed in their last game in which they were crushed by Real Salt Lake 4-0. In their 3 games they have only scored 4 goals and given up 7. The next game for United is against Columbus at home.
Toronto FC
Things looked bad to start the season, as Toronto FC still could not score. But in their last game they beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2, which gives the team some hope. They still have major concerns both offensively and defensively. For the year Toronto FC has scored 4 goals and given up 8 goals. In their next match Toronto FC hosts Real Salt Lake. If Real put up 4 goals against D.C. United how many can they score against Toronto?
