While negotiating over the transfer of Angel Di Maria with Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain are reported to have also asked about the availability of midfielder Michael Carrick.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc is a big admirer of Carrick and was hoping to lure the midfielder to the Parc des Princes as he looked to strengthen the Ligue 1 champions as they look to win the Champions League this season.
United have strengthened their midfield this summer with the additions of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, which should cut into Carrick’s playing time. But the England international was not interested in a move across the channel.
Carrick remains a key member of Van Gaal’s side with the Dutchman determined to keep the England international as United enjoyed their best run of form last season with Carrick in the side.
Carrick, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford in March, joined United from Tottenham in 2006 and next year will see him reach the milestone of 10 years at Old Trafford.
