Manchester United maintain they have no intention of selling Anthony Martial this summer, despite the strikers agent saying that he wants to leave Old Trafford.
The Frenchman’s representative, Philippe Lamboley, revealed on Wednesday night that his client wants to leave Old Trafford after negotiations over a new contract stalled.
Martial wants further assurances of his role under Jose Mourinho after starting just eight Premier League games since the turn of the year.
Mourinho has been highly critical of the 22-year-old’s performances but United insisted they are not entertaining any bids for the winger.
United, who hope to announce the signing of Brazil international Fred in the coming days on completion of the relevant paperwork, want to keep hold of their younger talent.
Tottenham have interest in Martial, with Daniel Levy pledging to give Mauricio Pochettino increased funding. Juventus have also been credited with trailing the former Monaco man.
Mourinho has claimed he will not stand in the way of a player departing should they ask him direct. It’s understood Martial is yet to do that.
Whether that happens during pre-season remains to be seen and Lamboley made his displeasure clear to French radio station RMC.
‘After thinking about all the possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United,’ Lamboley said.
‘When Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make it an important player.
‘We do not have the same vision on Anthony’s future. Without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.’
