It will either be the bargain of the decade or a colossal waste of money, but AC Milan and Manchester City have agreed a transfer fee of £17m for Mario Balotelli.
The deal has been confirmed on Milan Channel, the official club television channel, and he will have his medical on Wednesday.
“Mario arrives tomorrow!!!” read a statement on Milan Channel. “There is an agreement between the two clubs.
“Tomorrow he’ll undergo a medical and after that Mario will sign a contract with Milan until June 30 2017.”
It is pretty obvious from the final figures how desperate Manchester City were to get rid of Balotelli.
At the beginning of the month they wanted €37m for the Italian striker, but they finally accepted £17m plus €3m in performance-related bonuses.
After the fire sale that AC Milan had last summer you might be wondering how they could even afford that transfer fee? Well there are reports out of Italy that Milan will pay the transfer fee over six-years!! That is how desperate City were to get rid of Super Mario!
As for Balotelli himself, he took a sizeable paycut to return to Italy, reportedly agreeing to cut his wages from €6m net to just €4m.
With only two days left in the transfer window the question is who will City bring in to replace Balotelli or will they run the risk of going with just three main strikers the rest of the season?
