Malaga prevailed in the Primera Liga basement battle as they beat nine-man Almeria 3-1.
Malaga started the day a point behind Almeria but came from a goal down to move off the bottom of the table as their opponents self-destructed.
Sofiane Feghouli broke the deadlock for Almeria after just eight minutes before half-time substitute Enzo Maresca equalised in the 52nd minute.
Leonardo Ulloa was then dismissed for a second bookable offence and Malaga made the most of their numerical advantage as Salomon Rondon fired them into a 2-1 lead.
Almeria had a second man sent off when Antonio Luna was given his marching orders two minutes from time, with Juanmi completing the scoring for Malaga just before the final whistle.
The result leaves Almeria propping up the rest of the table, while Malaga are now just two points from safety.
