Stunning news for Inter fans as Sky Sports is reporting that Inter has contacted Real Madrid over Luka Modric, and that the Croatian World Cup star is interested in the idea of playing at the Giuseppe Meazza.
The midfielder was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2018 World Cup for being player of the tournament for his performances for Croatia, and is one of the best players in the world in his role and is the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or this yeat.
According to Sky Italia, Gazzetta dello Sport and FCInterNews, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has contacted the agents of the former Tottenham Hotspur man, and they haven’t closed the door on a move.
Any deal would prove very difficult, not least because of Modric’s salary, but the move shows the ambition of Suning. A transfer fee of €40-50m is being reported, which in today’s market is almost stealing.
The transfer would serve as a response of sorts to Juventus’ capture of Cristiano Ronaldo, and with the arrival of Sime Vrsaljko, Modric would form a Croatian quartet with Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic.
Imagine a midfield trio of Modriv, Vidal and Radja Nainngolan next season? A trio that could compete with anyone in Europe, although the fact that they are all over 30 would be a little worrying.
What do you think of the Modric to Inter rumors?
