The story has been around for several weeks now. That Bayern Munich had reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski and that the Dortmund striker would be joining their bitter rivals this summer.
And today, Lewandowski’s agent confirmed the rumors. Asked on Poland’s TVN24 whether Lewandowski is moving to Munich, agent Cezary Kucharski simply replied: “Yes.” He said that talks between the clubs are under way, but that nothing had been signed.
While nothing has been agreed between Bayern and Dortmund yet, reports out of Germany say that Lewandowski has already agreed to personal terms with Bayern and has already signed a contract with them.
The loss of the 24-year-old Lewandowski has to be a big blow for Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp. First he lost Mario Goetze to his Bundesliga rival and now he is about to lose the second best scorer in the Bundesliga to the same side.
It will be interesting to watch how Dortmund rebuild this summer. Their style of play this summer got them many admirers, and with close to €60m from the sales of Goetke and Lewandowski, Klopp will have the money to bring in some top talents.
But will that be enough to close the gap on Bayern, who dominated Germany and Europe this summer?
