Two second-half goals from Fabio Quagliarella helped Juventus beat Chievo Verona 2-0, a victory that sent the Bianconeri three points clear at the top of Serie A. The win also extended Juventus’s unbeaten streak in Serie A to 43 games.
This was a tricky gamegame for Juventus as it came in-between their 2-2 draw with Chelsea and Tuesday’s trip to Fiorentina. As a result, Antonio Conte rotated his squad giving 19-year-old Paul Pogba his Serie A debut in place of Andrea Pirlo, plus rare starts for Mauricio Isla, Lucio and Quagliarella. Chievo missed Luciano.
With all the changes it took a while for Juventus to get going, and it wasn’t until the second half that they finally broke the deadlock thanks to two goals in five minutes by Quagliarella gave the champions all three points.
In the day’s only other game in Serie A, Parma reduced to ten men when Aleandro Rosi saw red in the 87th minute, held Fiorentina to a 1-1 draw thanks to a Jaime Valdés goal in the third minute of added time.
This was a game that had everything with two saved penalties, both sides rattling the woodwork and Facundo Roncaglia’s debut Serie A goal for Fiorentina.
