It looks like Roman Abramovich and Chelsea are to give Antonio Conte what he has been asking for since he arrived at Stamford Bridge. A world class defender.
The late arrival of David Luiz did not impress Conte and it looks like Chelsea are going to make Juventus an offer they cannot refuse. Cesc Fabregas plus £50 million for centre-half Leonardo Bonucci.
Conte knows Bonucci well from their mutual time in Turin and his arrival would allow Conte to switch to his preferred three centre-half system.
Fabregas has not been an automatic first choice for the Premier League side this season and speculation continues to swirl around what role the Spaniard will play at Chelsea in 2016-17.
Juventus have been looking for a deep-lying playmaker and feel that the former Barcelona star could feel that role.
The bad news for Conte and Chelsea fans is that Juventus feel that they have the chance to make history this season by winning their six consecutive Serie A title plus the Champions League. As a result, this deal will probably not happen until next summer, which might be to late for Conte and Chelsea.
