Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer and the Columbus Crew.
The former best striker on the planet is not the same player he was since he tore his anterior cruciate ligament nearly two years ago. after a failed loan at Manchester United, Falcao is on loan at Chelsea this season where he has started only one Premier League game all season.
The Colombia international has not played since the end of October after picking up a thigh injury and new Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink revealed this week that the player had aggravated a previous problem on his return to training.
Falcao admitted before his latest setback that he had not got the opportunities he would have liked at Chelsea and Hiddink did not rule out cutting the forward’s loan deal short.
Monaco don’t want Falcao and his high wages back and on Friday, Le Parisien reported that Columbus Crew and Liga MX club America are keeping up to date on Falcao’s situation.
Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri has expressed his hope that his former Porto team-mate will make the move to MLS saying:
‘I’m convinced, because of the relationship we have, that Falcao would like to live in America and test himself in the MLS,’ Valeri said.
‘I would love it if he decided to join the MLS.’
Another pal of Falcao, Columbus Crew’s Federico Higuain, who played alongside Falcao at River Plate – has also lavished praise upon the 29-year-old.
“He could play at the top level in the MLS,” he added.
“Now we wait to see what his choice will be. Sometimes your team helps you because they are playing well – sometimes the opposite occurs. But we are still talking about a fantastic striker.”
Do you think that Falao would be a good signing for MLS and the Crew?
