According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Premier League money-men Manchester City are confident of signing Samuel Eto’o from Barcelona.
Indeed, it is claimed that the Citizens are of the opinion that a deal is close to completion.
Having signed Gareth Barry from Aston Villa for €13.7 million (£12m) on Tuesday, City will make the Cameroon international their latest acquisition in exchange for €23m (£20m).
Although the striker had a phenomenal season in front of goal throughout 2008-09, scoring 30 times in 36 Primera Division appearances, it is thought that Barcelona are ready to cash-in on him during the close-season.
The 28-year-old’s contract at the Nou Camp expires next summer, and it seems that the club would rather sell now than risk losing him for nothing next year.
