Diego Forlan’s father says the striker is poised and ready to join Inter Milan as a replacement for the Russia-bound Samuel Eto’o
Inter have agreed to sell Eto’o to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in a deal worth a total of 29 million euros, and his expected departure leaves a gap in the Inter squad that could be filled by Forlan.
Forlan’s father, Pablo, says the player’s agent is in Italy and that the transfer is likely to go through once Eto’o leaves Inter.
“I’d like to see him at Inter, as they are a great club,” Pablo Forlan told FC Inter News. “His agent is in Milan for the negotiations and Diego is anxiously waiting for this situation to be resolved. “However, as we all know, we are waiting for Inter to conclude the Eto’o sale. If that ‘triangle’ with Eto’o is concluded, then it’s practically certain Diego will end up at Inter. My Diego would be very happy at Inter, as he’d play with some of his best friends, like Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Milito. Unfortunately there is a little anxiety, because the transfer market concludes on August 31 and Diego is unhappy at Atletico. He gave more than he received and was not treated as well as he should’ve been.”
