Angel Di Maria’s agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly in Paris to work out the final details of his client’s move from Manchester United to Paris Saint-Germain for €60 million this summer according to Mercato 365.
The French football website says that Di Maria really wants to move to the Parc des Princes in this window, and with the fees all reportedly agreed upon it’s now surely just a matter of time until the transfer is finalised.
The website claims that the French champions will match his €15 million wages after only offering him €8 million last summer, as United beat them in the race for the Argentine’s signature from Real Madrid.
However, despite a very bright start to his Premier League career, Di Maria tailed off badly at Old Trafford in the second half of the season ending up with only three goals.
What will be interesting is that if Di Maria goes to PSG, will van Gaal be able to reinvest the €60 million in new players this summer in addition to his reportedly £150 million transfer kitty?
A worrying undetone to the story is that Di Maria’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who also represents David de Gea and Radamel Falcao. Mendes is the most influential agent in the game, and used to have a very good relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson and the club. I wonder if that relationship has changed, and if it has, what are the implications for United as they try to land some of the biggest names in the game?
