As he left the Saras offices this evening, Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti once again answered the questions put to him by journalists about the next Inter coach.
President, did Marco Branca and Piero Ausilio give you some good news regarding your next coach?
“We spoke about other things as well, not only about that. We had to discuss signings and sales. I wouldn’t want this situation to hold up everything else. We don’t have a match next Sunday and that’s a bonus – it gives us a few more hours to get things sorted out [smiling].”
Will you have things sorted out by the end of the week?
“Yes, I think so.”
We haven’t been able to figure out who your favourite coach is yet. Is it Guus Hiddink perhaps?
“Come on, you know I couldn’t say something like that. It would be very offensive to everyone else.”
Does Laurent Blanc fit the identikit of your ideal coach?
“For a start Blanc is working for the French national team at the moment, so again it would be difficult to contact him. I think he’s enjoying the experience and wants to keep at it. So I haven’t contacted him and I don’t think it’s the right time to do so.”
Has there been any contact with Gian Piero Gasperini?
“I think there has been, through Branca. Somebody has spoken to him. For the moment professional consultation.”
How important is it that a coach really wants to get the Inter job?
“I don’t think there’s anyone who wouldn’t like to coach Inter.”
We get the impression that it’s still a straight choice between Gasperini and Sinisa Mihajlovic.
“That’s your impression, not mine.”
