Huge week for Inter who have announced the signings of Walter Gargano And Alvaro Pereira, to go with the signing of Antonio Cassano from Milan earlier in the week.
Gargano was signed from Napoli on a 12-month loan deal with the option to make the deal permanent next summer. Inter are reported to have paid Napoli €1.5m for the loan, with a buy-out fee of around €5m.
The 28-year-old midfielder has agreed a four-year deal with the San Siro outfit.
Alvaro Pereira meanwhile has arrived in Milan and spoken of his delight at signing for Inter.
“It is incredible to be here, I am living out a dream,” the Uruguayan international declared to Gazzetta dello Sport shortly after touching down at Malpensa airport.
“It is a very special moment in my career, especially for a South American, to play for a world class club like Inter. I am ready to please the supporters and win lots of titles here.”
Pereira will initially cost the Nerazzurri just over €10m, with an additional €3.5m added on through bonuses and appearances fees.
No wonder that Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni was beaming after the completion of both deals saying:
“I want to say a big thank you to Marco Branca and Piero Ausilio,” the tactician told Inter Channel.
“The technical director has been in Portugal for the last 48 hours and has come back with the player we wanted – Alvaro Pereira.
“I thank them because they, along with President Massimo Moratti, have granted my wishes.
“A new Inter side is being created with a very clear vision. The President, Coach and directors all share that.”
Inter have totally revamped their squad this summer letting the likes of Lucio, Dirgo Forlan, Pazzini and Julio Cesar go while bringing in Handanovic, Silvestre, Guarin, Mudingayi, Gargano, Cassano, Palacio, Pereira, and Cassano.
