In a move that really was inevitable, Inter Milan have replaced Rafa Benitez after six months in charge.
A statement on the Inter web site read:
“F.C. Internazionale and Rafael Benitez wish to convey that, together and with mutual satisfaction, they have reached an agreement for the early cancellation of their working partnership.
F.C. Internazionale would like to thank Rafael Benitez for his work in charge of the team, which he guided to success in the Italian League Super Cup and in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rafael Benitez would like to thank F.C. Internazionale for the important professional experience and for the victories achieved together.”
Inter President Massimo Moratti also released a statement saying:
“I am upset about the end of the working relationship with Benitez, but the separation had at this point become inevitable. All the names linked with the future of the coaching position at Inter are interesting.”
Former AC Milan coach Leonardo is widely expected to be in place when Inter resume their Serie A campaign in the new year.
Now that it is official, what do you think about Inter sacking Rafa and possibly hiring Leanardo?
And where will Rafa end up next? He is back in Liverpool for the holiday’s and would like to work again in the Premier League, but what team will give him a chance?
