Another poor performance by Inter as they lost 3-1 away to Lazio. How long will the Inter board allow these kind of performances to go on? It would seem that Rafa has another must-win game this week against Bremen.
Against Lazio, Inter started the game ok, and had the first chance in the 13th minute when Muntari put Biabiany cross just wide.
After that effort, Lazio took control of the game and had a couple of good chances to score with Zanetti and Cambiasso both making goal line clearances. But unfortunately, from Cambiasso’s clearance, the ball hit Biava on his side and bounced into the goal to make it 1-0 to Lazio.
Pandev missed a golden opportunity to tie the score in the 32nd minute after Muslera had made a save from Sneijder’s free-kick 30metres out.
Seven minutes into the second half, Lazio went two up. Zarate got away from Natalino to then beat Castellazzi with a great left footed shot.
At that point it was all Lazio and the question seemed how many would Inter concede. Lazio must have had three or four great chances to add to their lead, but the combination of poor finishing, last-minute defending and good goalkeepnig from Castellazzi kept Inter in the game.
Somehow after withstanding the Lazio assault, Inter were able top get back into the game with 15 minutes left as Pandev scored against his former club. Inter pushed for an unlikely equalizer and Lazio killed the game off with a minute to go when Hernanes’s free-kick was deflected by Santon past Castellazzi.
If AC Milan wins this weekend, Inter will find itself 10 points behind the leaders. An unthinkable number at the start of the season.
