AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says that the club have no intention of allowing either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva to leave the San Siro this summer.
There have been rumors of Ibrahimovic rejoining Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid while Brazil defender Thiago Silva has been a target of Barcelona for the best part of a year.
However, when asked by reporters earlier this week about Milan’s transfer plans this summer, Galliani stated that the two stars will remain at the club.
“We already have two, Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic, who’ll both be staying with us,” he said.
The Rossoneri chief was then asked about the future of the 10 members of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad who will imminently be out of contract.
“We will start on them this week,” he explained. “With our Champions League spot already secured, we have the entire summer ahead of us to think about next season.”
Despite losing their title to Juventus and being knocked out the Coppa Italia by the new champion, Galliani insists that Milan can be proud of their season
“We were the best Italian side in the Champions League and we were only knocked out of the Coppa Italia in extra time in the semi-finals [against Juve].
“Obviously we would have preferred another outcome to second place, but Juve have won and credit to them. I phoned [Juventus president] Andrea Agnelli yesterday evening and gave him my compliments.
“We’re in second place now after winning last year and we’re in the Champions League, so life goes on and we’ll be fighting for the title next season.
“Now we look to the next season without remorse or regret. It’s acceptable to go from first to second place. Over the last two seasons with Allegri we’ve picked up more points than anyone in Italy.”
