The Houston Dynamo cruised to a 3-1 victory over the DC United aided by former United star Bobby Boswell who scored one of the team’s three goals. Ricardo Clark and Stuart Holden also scored for the two-time MLS champions. Houston now advances to play the second-place finisher from Group B in the semi-finals. Out of the four MLS representatives, the Dynamo look like the superior team.
The team’s goal differential is +5 and even more impressive than the 3-1 win over United was the team’s 4-0 demolition of Atlante who also advanced to the semi-finals. Holden, the 22-year-old midfielder, paces Houston with three goals in the tournament. The player was recently named to the U.S. Olympic team. Of note, Canadian Dewayne De Rosario has begun to find his form during the tournament which can only mean trouble for the competition.
Tomorrow, the other two semi-finalists will be known after the final phase of group matches concludes. New England and last year’s SuperLiga champion Pachuca are the two favorites to advance. New England is the only unbeaten team remaining in the tournament.
Is this second installment of the SuperLiga as popular as the first? Have your say.
