Good News For Man United Fans As Cavani Says He Will Stay At PSG

cavani-goalPSG striker Edinson Cavani has been linked for months with a move to Manchester United this summer, but following PSG’s 3-1 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday in their UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, first leg, the 28-year-old striker quashed the speculation that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

“There is too much talk about my future, but I will remain here,” Cavani told Sky Italia. “I will respect my contract and I’m only focusing on doing well for PSG.”

Cavani joined PSG in a £50m deal in 2013 and is under contract until June 2018. The Uruguayan has scored eight goals in 28 domestic league appearances for PSG this season, and has also scored six times in nine Champions League appearances for Laurent Blanc’s side.

Cavani is valued as if he was one of the top ten stickers in the world, but he is not clinical enough in front of goal for me, especially in big games. Against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after Ibrahimovic was sent off, and yesterday against Barca, Cavani missed chances that great goalscorers bury.

If you look at Cavani’s stats this season in Ligue 1, he as eight goals on 76 shots. That is a 10.5% conversion rate which is very average. Wayne Rooney for example has scored 12 Barclay Premier League goals this season on 66 shots. That is an 18.1% accuracy. Even Falcao at 12.9% accuracy is more clinical than Cavani.
