Going to a Barcelona match at the world famous Camp Nou is an incredible experience. If you have never been, here is everything you need to know for a great time in Barcelona.
Getting To The Stadium
Barcelona offers some great transport links to and from the Nou Camp that are not only plentiful but well priced. Whatever way you get there, whether it be by metro, bus or taxi we will give you the low down on how to get from the city centre.
Nearest Airport
If you are lucky enough to be flying into Barcelona for a weekend and to see a game then the nearest airport is Barcelona El Prat. It is situated around 13 kms from the Camp Nou and is the second largest airport in Spain after Madrid Barajas and the 10th busiest in Europe. Transport links from the airport to surrounding areas are first class and a new metro station has just been built. There are two terminals (the newly built T1 and the older style T2) and the airport is home to budget airlines such as Spanair and Vueling airways. Ryan Air also fly into here on a frequent basis.
Costs of transport from the airport to the Camp Nou are around €2.90 for the metro, €2.00 for the bus and €15.00 for a taxi. A Taxi is the quickest way to get here at around 10-20 minutes, but is clearly the most expensive option. The metro stop at Maria Cristina is only a short walk from the stadium and takes around 30 minutes. The best buses to get from the airport are Line 1 and Line 3 and these stop reasonably close to the stadium at the Plaza Espanya
Metro
From the city centre take the metro Blue line 5 to Collblanc or Green Line 3 to Maria Cristina or Les Cortes all of these stops are a very short walk away. The metro runs until 1am and the cost is around €2.90. The travel time is around 15 minutes from the city centre.
Bus
Buses are frequent and plentiful and a number of lines go straight past the Camp Nou from the city centre these are as follows: 7, 15, 43, 56, 67,68, 74, 75, L12, L50, L60 and L62. Lines 15, 43 and 56 are generally the busiest after matches and on important big games where they expect large crowds, they put on a special shuttle bus between the Camp Nou and the Plaza Catalunya after the game. The cost of a bus ticket is around the €2.00 mark.
Tram
Barcelona has an efficient tram system which runs regularly from the city centre, out to stops near the Camp Nou and the lines are T1, T2 and T3. They are very modern, clean and are green and white in colour. Ticket price is a very cheap €1.45 one way. You can purchase tickets at the ticket machine located at the various tram stops.
Taxi
This is the most expensive way to get to the Camp Nou but is probably the most convenient. The drive is around 10 minutes, but can take up to 30 minutes depending upon the traffic. Prices range from €10- €15 and there are a large number of taxi companies to choose from. Please click the link to check out some contact details for the taxi companies. Barcelona Taxi Guide
On Foot
Camp Nou is situated due west of Barcelona city centre in the district (Barrio) of Les Cortes and is around 6 kms. It can be walked but would take around one hour. Instead it is probably much easier to make use of the plentiful and cheap forms of public transport that the city has to offer.
