Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been assured by the Glazer family that they are fully behind him at Manchester United and that he will have money to spend in January.
The United manager has had to quell speculation about his future, particularly with Mauricio Pochettino available following his sacking by Tottenham and a run of below par performances in November.
United have maintained Solskjaer’s position is safe and they have patience for his project, however, it is understood Joel Glazer spoke to Solskjaer in person to underline the owners’ belief in his plans for the club and to reiterate he had their full support going forward.
Talking to Norwegian channel TV2, Solskjaer said:
‘This week might cause people to talk a bit less, and for me it’s always more fun to talk about things other than critique or speculations. I find it unnecessary when I know what we are doing and trying to do, and what we have planned going forward.
‘If we can keep these boys injury-free, we will take lots of points — and we are going to reinforce the squad.
‘It is physically tough to play football the way I want to play football. But we are on our way to become as robust as I want and need. These boys have the right attitude, they have the belief, they are boys that I want to keep going forward, that’s why they are here right now.’
United face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday as they look to top their group having already qualified, before taking on Everton in the Premier League and Colchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter final.
